Alarm prblem

Can anyone guide me please. I recently purchased an 03 S in December and the grin is still stuck on my face everytime I drive.
When pressing the lock button twice I get a little beep from the horn. Initially I thought this a nice friendly Porsche touch, but now realise something is amiss.
I understand the problem is a missing rubber 'thingy' in the fuel filler recess that should guide the locking rod into the keep in the flap, it does not engage and hence is not locked.
Anyone experience this and advice where to get one?
I know what a spanner looks like, and thats about the extent of my skills, would it be difficult to fit?

If you are pressing twice it will beep - this is to tell you you have disabled the internal sensors.

You only need to press the button once to lock/unlock and alarm as standard.

Mark, thank you for the alarm point, I feel a burke but hey ho!
Any steer on the rubber thingy though as I still have an unlocked fuel flap

All I can suggest is your local friendly Porsche Centre (or independant).
I would suspect Porsche themselves would have in stock though - I doubt independants would bother with something like this.

I think the part you mean is called a "guide rose". The part number is 996 624 505 02

Are there any other common problems with the alarm. Ive noticed mine beeps the horn when I set the alarm and after reading here I am making sure that Im only pressing the button once. Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers

You usually get a beep if either of the boot lids are open or the lockable box between the seats is not latched and for the later ones the glove box

I spent days trying to work out why mine beeped when I only pressed it onec and with the hood up. I checked the doors, the boot, the bonnet, the fuel filler cap.....................in the end - having read the manual - it was the oddments box between the seats. If the lid is not down properly it beeps as it is alarmed - even when unlocked.
