Alarm Problems

Typical - couple of days prior to my holiday , my alarm keeps going off app every 30 mins - Laserline That Cat 1 - cannot lock the doors without activating the alarm.

Any ideas where to start ( sensor prob ? )

Cheers
Chris

I'd get a specialist familiar with your system. Alarms, being microprocessor based, can break down through component failure and you then spend hours chasing a possible broken wire which isn't. []

An installer can test the system and establish were the problem lies. This probably isn't the suggestion you wanted to hear but, having had an alarm go on me, I found it to be the only reliable way of getting it sorted.

Thanks John - yep not the news I wanted to hear but in fairness the conclusion I was coming to , after 2 new window motors/regulators just a couple of weeks ago its been a costly couple of weeks for the old girl.

Have you checked the door switches (courtesy light)? A good clean, or even just tightening the screws, might do the job; certainly sorted mine on a couple of occasions when I was having similar symptoms. The same thing that will sometimes make the relay 'chatter'.

Why it has to wait ½hr until one is comfortably ensconced in the house I don't know, but mine was exactly the same! []

Might also be worth checking out / disconnecting the under-bonnet sensors to see if it's one of them. Failing that, it's specialist time []

This may sound totally dumb, but are you alarming the car with roof or windows open? A bee will set mine off with the roof open.

Cheers Dan , tried those tonight - no luck and yep tiptronic - the roof/windows etc are all closed, however I have located the problem without the need of an auto electrician. This may sound unusual but my partner has recently bought a new car and when her car is parked within say 3 feet of the 944 that's when the alarm starts going bonkers , moved the car out of the way and hey presto last night and this evening no probs so Im assuming the alarm/imm is somehow interfering [:)] I refused to believe it could be the cause but it cannot be coincedence.

That makes sense chisr. Watched some US cop show ages ago, can' remember the plot but it did involve 2 cars in a garage that had the same "frequency" on alarms - One would set the other off and the baddie got caught. That might have been fiction but sounds believable.
