Alarm setting itself when car not locked 987.1

Recently had my indie complete a handover with PIWIS to fix the front fogs and frunk light not working. All done successfully, but now my alarm is setting itself some 30 seconds after opening with the fob, meaning the alarm triggers when I open either door or either of the boots. Only way to clear it is to lock and re-open. Quite a faff..

I’ve noticed that when I close the door, the interior lights remain on for about 30 secs, then a very faint relay click, the lights go off, then at that point, the alarm sets itself.

i will of course go back to the indie, but it’s not so close and I’m struggling with time. I know I’m clutching at straws, but anyone have any suggestions? I have an Icarsoft por2, but not sure that will help much

Could be the battery.

Quite a few electrical faults on Porsches are due to the battery charge being low.

If you can charge the battery overnight this may help.

As mention above check the battery, your indie might have had the doors or bonnet open awhile draining the battery a bit also.
Worth a battery check up.

Hi Dave,

+1 on the above recommendations, and it would be worth running your diagnostic tool to see if any errors have been flagged-up, although the iCarsoft’s capabilities are very limited compared with the Porsche-specific PIWIS diagnostics used by the dealers.

Thanks guys, the battery is quite new and generally kept on a conditioner. I think it had a new battery when I bought the car three years ago, which in itself was the reason the fog lights etc. didn’t work.

do you think a battery disconnect and reconnect might help?

Hi @dave.hawley
I used to have similar with my 2005 987.1, any time the battery supply was interpreted (when I disconnected it) or other coding tasks performed the alarm would default to passive arming but not locking the doors. As you say a real faff. The problem on mine was that the alarm control unit or rear control unit (can't remember which) would lose its Country coding and think it was in Belgium. Recoding to the UK sorted it each time. I had both the alarm and rear control modules replaced but it still did it until latterly when it seemed to fix itself.
I see the post is a few weeks old do hopefully you're sorted but if not ask your Indie to check the alarm Country coding.
Good luck 👍

Thanks @adriang. I’ve tried a few things to no avail so it’s back to the indie. I’ll mention the country coding to him. I suspect that there is some black magic in the use of the PIWIS, but I remain optimistic.
