Alarm system (996 Turbo)

I understand that the remote control key is disabled after 5 days to save on battery. After 6 days, say, I can unlock the car via the door lock and then disable the alarm succesfully with the remote. However after what appears to be a longer period, roughly 2 wks, when I unlock the car with the key the remote control does not enable so I have to start the car to avoid the alarm being triggered.

Any ideas if this is a standard feature as it doesn't seem to mention it in the manual, is it configurable maybe by the OPC or might it be a fault? I ask since the feature seems to have occured recently as opposed to being a permanent feature that I can recall...

Any insight appreciated.

This is normal, after 2 weeks you should open door with key, and immediately turn on the ignition, this will reactivate the remote sensors. It is in the drivers manual somewhere, and is common to all 996's

Put key in lock.
Turn key - but do not open door. Car interior light will come on - you have "woken" the car.
Keep key in lock and press alarm button.
Car will now de-activate alarm.

No need to panic about getting the key in the ignition. You can do it all from the doorlock.
