When I set the alarm in my Boxster using the remote key the indicators flash twice and about two seconds later the horn sounds ,it has never done this before I think I read something about this in the book but cannot rember what it was ,any help on this.

Normally means you have left something unsecured properly for example glove box lid not fully closed shut, boot or bonnet on catch but not closed
 
As Robert mentioned, you have left something unsecured. It is usually the centre arm-rest storage box. I think if you have the top down and activate the alarm, the car will hoot if you have not locked the glove box or the arm-rest box.

But it couldn't give a monkey's if you leave a window open![&:]
 
I'm sure you know this already John, but if battery life of the key is not a issue then always hold the button down and it will automatically close the windows. Works when opening the car too, i.e. holding the button opens both the windows...

Indeed I do - but I would have thought it a relatively simple task to add the window position to the alarm check list - unless any techies know different?
