Could someone please tell me what model of Porsche alarm is fitted to a 1999 C4 Cab. My insurance runs out today, I'm at work with no details on me and direct line who i have had it insured with for the past two years are insistent on knowing the model.

I have never been asked what model of alarm is fitted (unless it was an aftermarket installation) only to confirm the alarm is factory fitted.

I believe the alarm fitted to your 996 is factory fitted and should also be category 1 Thatcham rated.
This information provided should normally be sufficient for the insurer.

If the alarm set/unset works from your Porsche Keyfob button, then it's almost certainly a factory fitted system.

I would call your nearest OPC just to confirm what I've said is correct.

Concept is correct. I was asked the same question by Tesco's insurance. I told them that the car comes with alarm and immobiliser as standard. They then checked with their records and confirmed the same.
They did not need confirmation once they realised this.

Thx for your help guys . I spoke to them again repeating this information and they decided to put my policy up £250 this year. So much for 6 years NCB. Guess i will try a real insurance company now.

If you haven't already spotted it, there's a recent thread 'insurance renewal nightmare' with some good advice, mainly about renewal premium hikes such as you've just experienced.

Chris,

Have sent you an email, but see the thread in the forum posts.

Try Adrian Flux, my quote was £653
