Alfa 4C coupe

anyone got any experience of the Alfa 4C coupe?

I've a chance of a delivery slot in March 2016 and just deciding if it's the car for me......replacing my Cayman R that will be 4 years old by then! (longest I've ever kept a car!). Haven't driven one yet but have an option to drive a customers car in the near future, so this will help
but it's hard to find any meaningful info out there in terms of longer term use/ownership.

If not for me then I'll be waiting for a GT4 PDK..........maybe.

Thanks,

Colin

I think it's a 4 cylinder fart box, with a crap auto box and over priced, plus nasty lights if they still have the org ones. Elise CUP is a far better car imo, as is the R you own.

Colin Don't you remember from your younger days; that tart from the rough side of town, she had all the curves in the right places and was pretty too but,................ [;)] D

I have not driven a 4c, but from what I can gather, compared to an R, it will be a lot wider and a lot slower. My previous car before my caymans, was an alfa Brera 3.2 V6. I found although Alfa reliability and build quality was way better than the famous reputation, it is not in the same league as Porsches i have to say. Also IMO Alfa's fuel consumption figures are complete fiction, real world the brera would never do over 18 MPG! i get over 30 in the cayman cant fault the 4c looks tho! Jon

Had a look over it on a Millbrook test day, where they would only allow passenger rides in them with so called race drivers! Paint was dimpled all over, plastic inside and out which seemed very cheap poor quality, cornered well but didn't seem as fast as they seemed to think definitely overpriced and the only thing better than the Lotus equivalents was the access. Not a contender against the Cayman GTS OR GT4

Since no-one has answered your question (and nor can I) I offer you this comparative article if you haven't seen it already. I take from it that the Alfa will not be a bad car if you are open minded to what you want from it and if you want something that isn't as tiresome as a Lotus but rawer than a Cayman. I would buy one. But not with an expectation for it to better what Porsches are good at. Of course it won't be. But the power to weight ratio of that thing, driven on the road where it will not reach its limits (on the limit the Porsche will be better), I don't think its a bad choice. More exclusive than any £50k Porsche too (and no doubt better residuals than any £50k Porsche too). It shouldn't really be compared to a Cayman S as it really isn't aimed at competing with that (and comparing to a GT4 would be really missing the point of this car - it's no track animal) or any other type of car. It's in a category all by itself. It shouldn't be compared to any previous Alfa. It isn’t a derivative of any other Alfa. At something like 900kg, lardy it aint and no Cayman will give you any power to weight dynamic like that and within the limits of its adhesion that weight and grip thereof will be plenty for the road (can't say it'll be as forgiving beyond the limit like a better engineered Porsche, but you pays your money and takes your choice). Alfa who produce cars like the Brera have very little to do with this carbon fibre monocoque halo car wearing an Alfa badge. From the monocoque brought in from a third party to the production facility at Maserati, it's hardly a Mito with a new body shell. I hope you take the plunge, if nothing else you'll have a different experience or it might make you appreciate Porsche more, or whatever. Chances are the experience won't cost you much as it'll be easier to sell on than most £50k Porsche. But you're asking in the wrong place unless you want to be talked out of it.[:)] You won't find many combined Alfa-Porsche enthusiasts. Maybe just you and I[:D] http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/comparison/2014/alfa-romeo-4c-vs-lotus-elise-s-vs-porsche-cayman-2014-review/ P.S. please let me know what you think of it after your test drive! P.P.S. It's no Lotus rival either. I would no more compare the Alfa to a Porsche or Lotus than I would the Morgan 3 wheeler, and neither would the Morgan buyer. The article you can read between the lines of what you're not getting compared to the Lotus and Porsche.

Just came across this so might as well post it on this thread for anyone who might be interested. I won't however respond to the aftermath[&o]. https://youtu.be/KnuNv77rB0Q
