Alloy finish?

I've been fighting with myself over whether I like my turbo look 2's or whether I want GT3 style sport designs. This silly dilema has been going on for a year now, and as a result I am still riding round on two rear alloys with scuffs!

I saw a few motors at Northway with the sport design rims on, and TBH, I think the turbo look alloys I have suit the shape and style of my car more.

So, I am pleased to say that I have decided to keep them (it's only been 12 months in the making lol!).

Now here we go - choice of finishes.

The original silver looks nice, but I am perhaps thinking of a titanium finish, or anthracite (although anthracite may be too dark). I don't want black that is for sure.

I adore Zenith, but I would hate to get them re-done and have it not go with the colour and ruin the look of the car.

Opinions?

A recent pic to put it into context.....

I don't like black wheels on a 996, but that is just me being an old fart. Titanium, or something like Seal Grey would be nice, but IMO it should have a polished rim. I've seen silver Turbo Looks with the rim poilshed, and I think it looks good.

Sounds interesting, hadn't really thought of that, although the turbo looks are quite flowing not being a split rim - googling to see if I can find any type of example.

Titanium with a polished lip could look nice....

Hi Steve,

Just my 2pence worth. I think on your colour, black rims would spoil the look of the car.

Maybe a dark grey colour, but defo with the pilished rim. I have seen some and it looks awesome.

Let us know what you decide!!!

Agreed, I've seen a few with black and it just doesn't look right with Zenith.

I think anthracite may be too dark as well, titanium could be nice with the polished lip.

Thanks for the link Richard - I'm going to Lepsons on Saturday to have a chat about finishes and see if they have some they can demo :)

Thanks for the comments.

Thanks, I'll be sure to post before and after pics as well as info on the finish.

I hope I make the right choice! :)

Hmmm, a darker finish with polished lips could look good, as this works I think.

Didn't like black but this bring them up....

And here is my attempt at photoshopping titanium look centres.

My wife said it looks rubbish as it will just look like I am driving around with dirty wheels lol....

You need a bit of lighting on those wheels to make them look glossy and more natural. (Unless you were thinking of matt finish...)

My Photochop skills aren't much better....

I think the 996s look better with silver wheels, my car has the slightly darker GT silver if you wanted an alternative. The black wheels on a 996 whatever style look a bit gangster bling in my opinion. The 997s get away with it as they were a factory option so we probably get conditioned to seeing them.

But hey wouldn't it be boring if we all agreed on everything[:D]

Good question, and thanks for the photoshop attempt Richard ;)

I saw some examples on Saturday of varying finshes and combinations, and although some looked fantstic I just don't think they will suit my car.

I've booked in to drop the wheels off in two weeks, so that gives me time to make a definite descision. So far though I am actually leaning towards playing it safe and having them silver or, a darker silver with polished rim (I think grey's and blacks may be out, but watch this space as I always change my mind lol).

Either way it will be nice to get rid of the scuffs on the rear! :)
