Alloy Refurbishment

Where should I get my alloys refurbished ? Standard 993 C2S wheels with minor but irritating bubbling of paint in patches.
OPC in Exeter has quoted £117.5 per wheel and only for the faces without taking the tyres off ! I want the whole wheel done well but it might have to be as mail order as I live in Cornwall, the automotive dessert.

Grateful for any advice or experience.

Thanks,

Stephen

Just logged on after picking up my curb damaged wheel from Amazing Alloys. Fantastic Job, the rim was quite chewed after knocking the curb at some speed, but now it looks brand new again and only cost me £43 + Vat. Gregg is the man 07834 765966 or www.amazingalloys.com. They are based in Reading so not sure that works for you but if you can I'd certainly recommend them.

I am not associated to them in any way - just amazed at the result they achieved on my wheel.

There is a company near me called Spit & Polish in Tonbridge (http://www.spitandpolish.co.uk/).

I also hear from a friend that one of the national tyre and exhaust places was now offering alloy refubishment for £50 per corner - not sure which one.

Anyone got any suggestions where I can get my alloys refurbished in North London/Herts?

Thanks,

Laurence

For North London, try Chris at Diamond Styling. Not the cheapest but the best bar none.

I can also recommend amazing alloys. Great if you want to get rid of the corrosion, but you need to know that Greg cannot get the wheels up to 'as new' standard. If you want that you have to go to your OPC or someone who can operate the process needed. Your OPC chargeS £80 per wheel plus VAT. Greg is cheaper. Personally when I come to have to wheels done again I will go to my OPC and pay the extra.
Cheers
Peter

If anyone can clarify on the OPC situation (and quality of end result) , I need someone I can trust to restore my forged alloys and have been putting it off for AGES.

I've just had both of my Rear Alloys done at Reading OPC. Mine are 17" Split Rims. The previous owner had managed to take chunks out of the Spokes not the rim. Really quite bad. Not may people would touch them especially being Split Rims. The cost me £90.0 + Vat each but they do look great. They even did all the Allen Key bolts on them. They now look like new.

OPC's taking the piss.........and the mark up.

You can contact Chris at Diamond Styling on 020.8969.9690.

Website? You gotta be joking!!

Basically, he doesn't need it!

His workshop is always full of Porsche wheels of various sizes and types, incl. Fuchs.

All wheels have tyres removed and are gently bead blasted back to bare metal. Repairs carried out as required and then wheels put onto an ex Rolls Royce lathe for any skimming required. Finally, paint applied (any color you like!!) and wheels baked in oven.

He will also arrange refitting of tyres.
