Alloy welding?

Can anyone recommend somewhere that can do a small alloy welding job - preferably in the lanarkshire/glasgow area?

Its a tiny job to weld an aluminium hose fitting onto another (to make a male-male connection) - the fittings look something like this:

Do you know the thread size?? You buy can ones with threads both ends no problem. Rs do them or probably even b&q inplumbing section dependant on the thread size.

To weld the 2 together you would need to find someone with a tig welder...and generally these type of fittings are not aluminium.... They are alloys so are difficult to weld.

If your stuck then I could help you out...but I would see if you can buy the correct fitting first.

If you search on Rs for threaded nipple then you should find what you need.

You Need an account to buy from RS but screw fix etc should also stock

If your stuck give me a shout

Unfortunately the sizes I need are -12JIC to 1 1/8 UNF - a combination which doesn't seem to exist (believe me I've tried)....so welding is my last hope....

hopefully your sorted, but for future reference

I just tried to explain it to her mike....she was fine with the nipples, it was your ladyboy searches I couldn't explain

anyway, just to keep it up to date - got a local place to do it...the guy moaned enough, and its not the prettiest bit of welding I've ever seen, but its done the job and seems very strong.....Oulton here I come...

If I was going to carry spares for everything which could go wrong I'd just buy another car [;)]
