hi everyone I'm new to the club,I'm living in South Shields.I am asking for recommendations for a Alloy Wheel refurbisher as I want to paint my 997 lobster claws in gloss black,my cars polar silver and I like black wheels on silver cars.

thanks in advance for any replies.

Hello, I have heard good reports of RS ALLOYS in Hartlepool. Did some 996 split rims and they were great. Have tried a couple of others in Stockton but would not give them the same recommendation. Good Luck.

Ive just had the alloys on my BMW 6 series done by RS Alloys 3 weeks ago & they look fantastic

had my 996 alloys done somewhere else last year but will be getting them redone by RS alloys this year

Hi, welcome to the club.

Gloss black lobsters sound great. Might want to try DBB valeting at the Silverlink as they told me they have contractors that can sort alloys.

See you at the club night perhaps.

David.

Welcome to the Club. Not exactly local to you but Wheel Nut in Swalwell did my split rims on the 996 & have done plenty of my customers wheels Too. Not cheap but you tend to get what you pay for, as I see regularly in the tyre trade. Alloyfix at Westerhope is good too, he's a Porsche driver so you know he'll look after you.

Another vote for RS Alloys in Hartlepool. I've had two sets of wheels done by them and been pleased with the results both times.

Also used Motorcool in Thornaby, but I think they are dearer now than RS.

JS Autoworx. Small place but excellent quality. Guy is called Jamie and he's in South Shields. Check out his facebook page. Does caliper painting and loads of extra bits but famous for his wheels.

Jamie has done 3 sets of wheels for me (soon to be 4) and a standard colour refurb is only £100 for all four (and he's in South Shields too). That is for paint and lacquer, if you want them powder coating then expect to pay £250 upwards.

Yes that sounds about right although £25 a Wheel is Dead cheap for a New Coat on top of the old, and I'm sure that's not painting the inside or taking the tyres off etc..

A man in a Van is usually £40 - £50 dependant on quality, bodyshops will do the same but usually want a bit more £60+

And your cheap Industrial powdercoaters will always entertain 4 wheels in the oven with their usual products & gates etc.

from £50 onwards, then the daddies are your Wheel Specialists who unlike the powdercoaters will use 3 different materials

(not one or two) and most importantly flat down the dry powder primer before the wet Colour is applied, then once good a gloss clear dry powder lacquer is applied an baked at 200degs .

Dependant on size £100+ each wheel will buy you a quality over the entire wheel and longevity for years.

It's the same with car bodywork, you can go cheap , middle or the dogs! Sometimes the later two can be combined

but generally you'll always get what you pay for with paintwork.

That's painting the inside and either removing the tyre or pulling the bead back - your choice.
