Alloy Wheel Refurbishment

Can anyone recommend anywhere good locally (West Mids) for alloy wheel refurbs - or even places to avoid ?

I'd ask at the clubnight this evening, but unfortunately can't attend due to a prior committment.

I'm expecting to have the tyres off the rims, but would ideally like somewhere they can remove the wheels themselves / store the car while it's done - as I've got nowhere the keep the car without wheels.
In the past, the almost chrome like finish that is original on my wheels was very rare / expensive, but it now seems more available.
Shorade - up in Cannock - are an approved Porsche place I'm aware of with what I believe is a very positive reputation & I know there are a few near the centre of Birmingham (but with what appear to be very mixed reviews !)

pm me if you worried about potentially sensitive comments !

Thanks in advance,

Paul

The wheel specialist at garforth in leeds did my sport design split rims and they came back as new. Just leave the car with them and they do the rest. They are a franchise so may be in your area also. Cheers, Chris

Gary, Chris, thanks for the info. I'll probably go with Shorade - as I've only heard good things from others & yourself Gary. I'll put some photos up afterwards for all to judge ! Paul

It all comes down to price, I have found... My experience of some companies: (BHAM) City powder coaters are the cheapest at about 20/wheel. A member was saying they did an OK job on some race wheels. (BHAM) The wheel specialists. These are about 60/wheel. They did my design 90's and did a very good job. Nearly perfect... (TEWKS) the alloy wheel specialists. These are about 80/wheel. These seem to do the best job - near perfect. Other questions to consider - do you want them wet painting (better looking IMO) or powder coating (harder wearing). Do you want full refurb or just the face? Hope this helps. Lee

Lee, Mark, for info I've been quoted £95 inc VAT / wheel via Shorade - including stripping / coating the centre caps (only possible if they're the metal variety). That includes them removing / re-fitting wheels & tyres & storing the vehicle while its done. Shorade appear to have a positive reputation & are an approved OPC body shop repairer. I'd heard others were in the £55~65 region excluding centre caps Paul 2004 996 40th Anniversary Edition

Ive used Chris from Exel wheels. He will call up, swap your wheels and leave you with a loan set, then return yours (about) a week later. Excellent quality, he has done three sets for me. About £100 per wheel.
