Is there a definitive answer to determine whether one has hollow or solid 18" Turbo alloys?

Here are the part numbers, offsets, weights and differentiators of hollow-spoke and solid-spoke wheel types for the 993 TT, 4 and 4S. These may apply to other 993 models too.


Hollow Spoke "Technology" wheels:
993.362.136.00 - ET52 - 19.95 lb (front)
993.362.140.01 - ET65 - 23.36 lb (narrow body rear)
993.362.140.00 - ET40 - 25.13 lb (wide body rear)
Have smooth spoke-backs and metal valve stems.


Solid Spoke "Turbolook" wheels:
993.362.136.01 - ET52 - 25.57 lb (front)
993.362.140.04 - ET65 - 29.32 lb (narrow body rear)
993.362.140.03 - ET40 - 31.08 lb (wide body rear)
Have a groove along the spoke-backs and rubber valve stems.

Yes there is...
I asked this very same question but do not have the access to the info until I get home by which time I'm sure Richard Hamilton will be along to advise....
I'm sure I kept the info he sent me so will pass it on with pics

What I can remember is that the solid wheels have rubber valves & the hollow ones have metal ones/sleeves!! IIRC

Part numbers are the safest answer.

The spokes of the hollow spokes are oval in shape with no indents on the inside.

the solids are forged so the backs have indents that you can get your fingers in.
