Almost as sad as polishing!!

If you have Targa and the wind noise drives you mad you will find that a significant amount of it is caused by the rear location holes for the Targa pins.

I machined up a couple of 'mushroom' plugs that slide in when the Targa is off and was amazed at the reduction in noise.

Now where's me Meguires?

Clever stuff Ian are they aluminium (black anodised would be nice). I've been thinking of making a replacement 'loud' pedal in aluminium for 911s for some time. I'm sure there is a market for your plugs too.

Ian

Can you post a picture of them.

I have access to a lot of machinery and would like to try them out for my self[8|]

Do you mean nice shiny ali, the type that is slippery when wet ?
Or maybe one to raise the pedal top surface up to the brake pedal ?

If I design it John it will be fit for the purpose. The idea is to produce a functional lightweight, affordable and cosmetically attractive peadal set which replaces the current items so people have a choice and don't have to buy the bolt on cosmetic only treatment pedal covers presently available. Some are available in U.S but at a great cost.

I'll do it tomorrow as the camera lead is in work. They are PVUc in black to match the buttons on either side. As you need to recess the inner lip to make them fit against the Targa as well as cover the lip of the tube and they are at an angle and there is a taper I decided simple was best. With the plastic you get a bit of give.

Also drilled the airbox to become completely sad. Need therapy methinks!

You just need to get out more.

Try this for getting out then. Dawn Raid II round the Peak District starting at 5.30 am (Sat 31st) before the helicopters are out. 130 miles of high speed open road driving with no cameras/ gatsos. Includes Cat and Fiddle, Strine moor and other well known spots

Not too late to join us (all welcome) check out Pistonheads website under Events/ meetings/ Travel or email me

Ian,
Out of interest - how many holes did you put into the airbox ? Is it a case of a couple of holes or does your airbox housing resemble a colander !!??

Hi Paul

I cut a lot! 2" ones on the larger surfaces and 1.5" elsewhere. When cruising it makes very little difference to the sound level but under acceleration it gives a satisfying 'edge' to the noise.
