Classic and Vintage Vehicles of all shapes and sizes we are told will be gathering at Lionheart Station in Alnwick, Northumberland. This event will be running alongside an Aln Valley Railway open day so train rides will be available, both the Museum and Café will also be open on the day.

R3 has being invited to show at this two day event and Deb and I wondered if there would be any interest in attending on the Sunday from our members.

I get the impression that it will be a fairly low key event and the organisers are looking to add some extra interest.

Alnwick, one of the finest towns in our region, has some great driving roads to and from and I for one don't need too much of an excuse to pop up for the day and socialise with like minded enthuasists, so if you would like to be involved, park your car as part of their display and perhaps even take a train ride, visit their museum or just chill at the onsite café please add your interest to this thread.

The organisers have a relaxed 20+ age limit (that's cars - not drivers!) but are happy to squeeze in any newer "models of interest, particularly exotics"

I'm not sure we will make it - depends what time our friends leave. Also its Fathers Day and we are expecting a visit from our daughters.

Popped down. An eclectic mix of vehicles which I really enjoyed the whizz round..........

My favorite was the two door Escort estate with the V6/8 engine, Old skool Ford ..................not a 'Porka'to be seen. I'll post when I down load some pics.

Sorry we missed you. As you say, an eclectic mix of vehicles, from lawnmowers to Aston Martins. We only had two cars registered, both 944s, but when we got there they parked us next to another 944 from R18. We only lasted until lunchtime. There was no shade from the heat and we were parked next to the exit, the organisers were thoughtful in putting us there to avoid the cars getting covered in soot from the trains, but every time a car left our cars got showered in gravel & dust. We threw in the towel and headed for the hills, the Northumberland Hills. It was good to get some air flowing with the roof down. The roads were quiet so we enjoyed a great run to Rothbury, then over to Hawick, down through Newcastleton & home via the Military Road.

It was a beautiful day and yes it was a bit dusty on the exit route. There was a white F type with the roof down collecting a fine film of dust.

Sounds like you had a good run out on some great roads in the afternoon .

Heading to the continent on Thursday. Popping into Newcastle OPC with some of the other cars before we get the Ferry [:)]
