Alternative disks and pads - 2002 3.2S

The mechanic has told me that the time has come again, new disks and pads for the third time in my ownership.

I am a bit fed up with the rusting of standard cross drilled disks from either Porsche or Sebro/Zimmerman, has anyone fitted a set of grooved disks instead? Or, know of any suppliers.

Thanks.

I have not fitted these but I believe that Brembo (there are also others) do a kit for the Boxster S with a slotted disc option.

What about the likes of AP Racing and Performance Friction? Might not be cheaper than OEM but might last a little longer.

If you have deep pockets then alcon are an alternative. I'm still on my originals after 24k miles and 4 years, some corrosion on the insides but a few hard stops will keep it from getting any worse.

I live in the north of scotland and cannot garage the car. Albeit a daily driver, dont get over 30mph on the commute. The nights and weekends are not enough to blast off all the build up.

Depends on whether I keep the car longer term (coming into the 5th year of ownership)

Some good pointers though - thanks. Just have to balance off the costs against each other and maybe take the plunge.

Do Alcons rattle? I believe the disc 'floats' slightly on the bell housing, great for track use but I was told they were a bit noisy for road use?
