I am looking for an alternator for a club member friend for his 2007 997 turbo. It seems they are in very short supply because they are being hoovered up by electric car makers!
It needs to be fitted before our WOTY next week, so it’s really urgent and help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Mark

I have an alternator from a 996 GT3 with a new diode pack that’s been sitting in my garage for a few years.

I can get you the part number later today so you can check if it works on the turbo if you like?

If it’s just the rectifier pack can be replaced easily. My 996 turbo stopped charging took out and changed pack at cost of about £23, if not mechanically minded any local auto electrician can do it.

Hi Rodney,

Thanks so much, but the elusive part has been tracked down.

Our grateful thanks to Jake at Porschalink, Nelson, Lancashire who found the part for us at a very reasonable price.

Regards.

No idea why this was a struggle to find? Same part used on all 997 & 987, anyhow glad you got one!

I know nothing about these things, but my friend will no doubt be cautious as a result of your message. Thanks.
