Hi everyone I'm fitting a bigger turbo and really need to change the alternator for a smaller one with the same or more power output any ideas as to which one will fit with the least amount of modifications ?
Regards john

Alternator successfully exchanged for a Nissan primastar 140amp unit which is much smaller and has allowed the new Lindsey racing turbo room .Easy to do once you figure it out retains the standard alternator belt too! And the standard alternator bracket .

interesting....my alternator has recently been rebuilt but in the interest of a possible future upgrade can you please give us the model number...btw I have a Lindsey turbo fitted with no problems but yes it would be nice to have a little more room around that area.

cheers

Pete

I thought there could be issues with the voltage regulator when fitting Nissan alternators.

Does your alternator have plastic air duct fitted Pete ?

It used to, removed last year, plastic duct from back of alternator to front of car, ducts everywhere on an 86...well A/C and brakes, don't think there's any others....:)

Mine had the air duct and to fit the new turbo would have meant either cutting the air jacket off the alternator or crushing the inlet pipe to get it to fit ,neither options I considered as I want to keep all parts to return to standard in the future ,if required .So after a bit of research I found this alternator with the correct offset more power the correct pulley and grafted it on .I have to say that the upgrade kit from Lindsay racing /rogue tuning isn't particularly well thought out and there is quite a lot of engineering to make it fit well ! Will post pictures soon .J.

Hi I notice that you have done the Lindsay racing upgrade ,mine is finished and ready to run but I am concerned about setting the car up ,at the minute it has the piggy back board on the ecu but I am concerned about the fuelling .Are you running the standard ecu?if not which one did you choose? and have you got a AFR controller ? if so which one?My car has the rogue tuning MAF kit aswel .I am considering the Augment ECU upgrade with a AEM AFR controller gauge .Has anyone done this ?

Finally has anyone changed the headlights to LED units ,if so how did it work out?
