AFAIK the non aircon alternator bracket works fine and a used one is cheap.
Certainly though just relocating it frees up a lot of space around the compressor area!

No that the bracket is heavy but I did notice a Lindsay racing air con delete bracket on ebay for £65 which looks like it would bit lighter if you are on a weight saving mission as well.

Depending how much you intend on stripping down the engine to fit the bracket the rear bolt can be a PITA to remove.
