alternator wires

I would like to disconnect the wires from the alternator, this seems to be the last location to check for an electrical consumption when the car is parked, possibly leak to earth through faulty diodes.

How do I disconnect the wires?

No air con so I might be able to get at it from underneath.

There is a black plastic cover at the back. Can I remove this and simply unplug?
