Althorp Driving Challenge

At the National Event at Althorp this year there is a low speed driving challenge which I expect will be similar to the Autotest contests which were popular some years ago, the organisers are asking for eight contestants to represent regions or registers and I'm sure that someone from the Cayman Register can give a competitive drive in this type of event but we have to get an applicant quickly!

If anyone wishes to represent the register please get in touch ASAP and I will send a message to the organiser to book your place or you can send your application direct to Chris Seaward gm@porscheclubgb.com stating that you wish to represent the Cayman Register and let us know through the forum so that we can get some support to the arena for you.

Ok Rob, I'll put your names forward for the Cayman register and if other regions/registers don't fill the list maybe Caymans will.

I have just registered to do the driving challenge in my 1983 924 but do not know anything about the event apart from Kevans recent posting calling for any more Caymans to compete.

Where are the details about the challenge ? there is nothing on the website or in PP, what is involved? is it at Althorp or at PEC, on grass or tarmac and when will it take place?

Can anyone fill in some details please.

Robin

We are all in the dark, no I don't mean it takes place after mid night! [:-]

If they told us what it was all about no doubt the VC and his pals would be setting up a similar course in Morrison's supermarket after mid night to ensure they got some practice in prior to the event.:ROFLMAO:

Thanks John! It's just a bit of fun being organised by Pirelli I think. Low speed precision, don't hit the cones as I understand it - I don't think anyone will be doing it in their own car, the idea was just for a bit of inter-region/register competition.

It is just one driving representative from each region and register and as Rob was the first to step forward his name is down for the Cayman register.

As for what the driving challenge is, well, it's anyone's guess I don't even know if it's on Saturday or Sunday although favourite would be the latter as it's a longer day, 9 until 5
