Am I asking for trouble - Advice needed

Hi,

I have been pondering ownership of a 996 - previously had a Boxster. I have come across this high mileage 2002 tip, one part of me is telling me not to entertain it and the other is telling me to buy on condition. Am I asking for trouble? Any advice is appreciated.

High Mileage 996

Thanks

As nice as the car looks, I'd say the price is way too high for that mileage. Its somewhat accepted that the common lifespan of an M96 engine is around 150k miles and there is no real "rebuild" option, only "replace" - this car may go to 250k miles, but also a fair chance its only got a few thousand left. I'd want to be paying £8k for it.

I thought the price was a bit steep I have since found a blog on the car http://www.project3000.co.uk/ look like it originallylived in stirling.

Also says it was bought for £7500, which is a far more realistic figure....I don't see any evidence of work justifying the extra £4.5K being asked....

I have decided to let that one go and continue the search. On further investigation it look like everything is done on a shoestring and the price is bumped up as it has been steam cleaned; several times-)

Thanks
