I have removed the engine and gearbox to replace clutch , replaced exhaust system and various other things to my 1988 Carrera but when i need to replace the horns i cant get the front bumper off !!!

I`ve removed the bellows and the four bolts from the front ( as it says in the Bently manual ) but the thing wont budge!!

Are there any bolts i may have missed ?
Thanks for any help .

Forget the first post i wrote Beaky !!
I know why you answered like that lol
Doh i put the title where the rest of the text should of been and the hit return !

[8D] - Sorry can't help you I've never taken my front bumper off, but if you download the PDF parts file found in the general section, there's a diagram that shows all the bumper fixings

Good luck

PS when my horns were changed I don't think they took the bumper off, got to it from beneath

If you manage to replace the horns without removing the bumper can you post details? One of mine doesnt work and I need to change but didnt want to go to the bother of taking off the bumper. I havent been using the horn to save the emarassment of the pathetically feeble sound [:)] of a single horn.

If it's anything like a 964,you get at the horns by removing the wheel arch liner on the rhs.

If its an <89 model, the bumper and bumper mounting are dissimular metals and 'bond' and rust together with age. Slacken off the 4 bumper nuts but leave them fitted very slack. Remove the rubber bumper bellows/bumper nuts.
Once this is complete, place a piece of 3"x2" onto the bumper rear edge, the part hidden behind the bellows and give it a good wack. This tends to slacken it off but you must leave at least 2 mounting nuts fitted slack or the bumper will spring right off damaging everything in its path.
