I have been ill since October 2015, culminating in a 10 day hospital stay just before Christmas as a result of a bad bout of bronchial pneumonia. The result is that I haven't been well enough to drive my 997tt since before the clocks went back [X(]. The car is due its MOT so last Wednesday I set the tyre pressures - all 4 had lost about 4psi. I then decided, yesterday, that I was feeling well enough to take it out for a "shake down" run so that I could be reasonably confident that the dealer's driver would have no problems.
I disconnected the battery conditioner, held my breath and turned the ignition key. The engine started immediately, no hesitation whatsoever, and settled straight into its high tickover, familiar when the engine is cold. A few miles of gentle driving, with frequent use of the brakes cleaned the disks and, after an inordinately long drive, the oil temperature reached its normal level. It was at that point, as I cruised down the M54, that I realised that the car clock was still set to British Summer time!
So, after about 4 months of inactivity, this lovely machine was soon performing its amazing acceleration and the smile on my face was wider than ever. I doubt that I would have had the same response from other "super"cars.
