An evening at the car auctions - Witney - 15th September

In response to popular demand, we have now arranged a visit to a trade motor auction at West Oxfordshire Motor Auction Ltd (WOMA) which is located on the Bromag Industrial Estate in West Witney on Tuesday 15th September. If you've never been to a trade car auction before this will be an interesting experience for you. And even if you have, it's always a lot of fun tyre-kicking and bidder-spotting.

FYI, WOMA is a very busy long-established independent motor auction house that holds vehicle auctions twice a week. This particular auction will offer a mix of vehicles sourced from main dealers, local authorities, leasing companies and some private customers from across the Cotswolds, the Midlands and the West Country. Bidding is usually brisk with the bulk of vehicles selling for prices ranging from £100 to £20,000 and over. Up to 200 cars are sold at each sale. The bidding starts at 18:00 prompt and the last car usually goes through between 20:30 and 21:00. It is located at the junction of Downs Road and the B4047 (Burford Road) in West Witney here.

And in case you get hungry, there's a decent catering facility in the auction hall offering tea, coffee, soft drinks, burgers, bacon baps and chips.

On street parking in the immediate vicinity of the auctions is restricted but parking (£2) is available in the car park across the road from the auction site. It may be prudent to not take your Porsche to the event due to the sometimes crowded car park. Unrestricted on-street parking is however available nearby in a quiet location a short 5-minute walk away in Range Road.

If you're interested in coming along please let us know by making a post below.

As we said "...in response to popular demand'...". Any takers for this event?

Fiona says if Alan goes alone he's likely to end up bidding for another Freelander because he feels sorry for it.

Please email us at r31@porscheclubgb.com if you want to come along and stop Alan buying another Freelander.

That's a shame Steve. There aren't many events we organise that are within walking distance of where you live... [;)]

Mike, no problem.

We'll be meeting at 18:00 right outside the auction site on this corner (at the entrance to the Bromag Business Park on Downs Road) [link=https://goo.gl/maps/fkT7w]here[/link]. You can give me a call on my mobile on 07785 928687. Look forward to meeting you there.

Alan

Anyone else coming? So far it looks like 3 people are going. This may not be enough to restrain Alan from bidding.

FYI, the sale list can be viewed [link=http://www.woma.co.uk/next-auction_2.html]here[/link]. So far there are 138 cars on the list, including lots of Volkswagens, BMWs and a few Mercedes-Benzs. So far there are no Porsches listed but vehicles get added to the list right up until the auction begins tomorrow evening.

Just to remind everyone that we're off to the car auctions this evening. It should be a fun opportunity to do a bit of tyre kicking and socialising. Best of all it's free.... unless of course you stick your hand up [;)].

A big thanks to everyone who came along to restrain Alan from bidding tonight. It was touch and go at some points but we managed to get through the evening without taking another set of wheels home with us.
