An interesting afternoon watching paint dry!

This is going to sound like a real sales patter, but I can't help it. I am always sceptical about gadgets that make your life easier, especially when it comes to car cleaning. However, I was recommended the Flash Car Wash System by a friend, so I thought I would give it a go. I bought one from Costco thinking that -a- Their refund policy is NQA and -b- There is a money back guarantee from Flash.

It is quite astonishing how well it works. I practiced on my wife's car before doing mine. It worked really well, so I thought I would read the instructions and have a go at mine. The good thing is that you can rinse and wash sections of the car without worrying about drying it off. The car dries naturally, and there are NO water spots. Not even on the rear spoiler louvres, glass, or the door mirrors - quite amazing.

It doesn't do the door shuts - but I don't suppose you can have it all.

Oh, from the subject I thought you'd been to a Formula 1 race...[:D]

I tried to get the Flash thing yesterday but Tesco & Somerfield didnt have it so I had to do our 3 "old school". Sounds good though.

I know I saw it at Costco a few weeks ago but dismissed it as a gimmick, I'll pick one up from there next week, cheers Richard :)

Hi

Having soft water and removing all impurities works wonders. I have been using a system by Ionics http://shop.ionicsystems.com
Does more or less the same but you can use a bucket and water or your favourite spray gun. The deionised water is safe for refilling batteries.
I am not sure how economical it is compared to the flash system and you have to store the containers.
The effect is great with no need to dry.
One tip I have learnt is that the microfibre towels are very much better than chamois leathers for drying cars whether or not you use deionised water. Only downside is you cant squeeze them - you need several clean ones for the average Porsche. However it is easy to wash them.

happy cleaning

Not sure if there's been mention of this on the forum previously, but I can recommend 'Diamond Brite' (http://www.jewelultra.com.)

Once applied, it only requires the application of a conserver fluid once a month to maintain the paint protection. Simply chamois the car dry for a "just waxed" look finish.

Otherwise, just jet wash off - after application of the conserver - and go for a fast spin to dry off the car [;)]- water just rolls off. Good benefit in the winter when it's not practical to wax your car.

It's quite expensive to get applied initially, a bit more than Zymol, but further waxing is not required - only monthly application of conserver (a couple of capfulls in a bucket of water) is all that is required to maintain the original wax finish.
