An interesting tyre

Just a picture of one of my front tyres showing graphically how melted they can get on track days. This is an r-compound Dunlop D01J which is just about the best track tyre I have used but it has one weakness which is its propensity to "collect" other tyres "boogers" and to get a bit melty itself.

The outsides are clean - shows how hard we were all pushing but the insides are dreadful. I am not sure if these are good for anything other than the bin. Maybe they will clean up if I drive on them a bit.

Hope you don't find this too boring or think I am dreadfully sad posting it [:)] Can you tell I have a whole weekend to myself with no family?

Keep posting Richard we need more interesting things to talk about besides speed camers fascinating as that is. [8D]

Would think a tyre depot would be able to clean the boogers off no problem, even if this means spinning them on the balancing machine and filing/grinding the offending artcles off

Richard,
I think you might have the makings of the ever lasting tyre!
Seriously though, I have heard of tyres being shaved, presumably to remove excess rubber / weight etc. So I imagine something could be done, alternatively just a good drive might do the trick with the tyres a road temperature.
