All,
I'm considering the option of upgrading my Carrera S with the Porsche RS upgrade to 3.8L. I know its expensive but it is kind of 'official'.

Has anyone carried out this upgrade and does any one have first hand experience of the benefits?

Would you recommend any specialists to carry it out?

Any thoughts are welcome....

Morgan,

I've got a 3.8 in my 964 and it's great. Very torquey and easy to drive but still revs nicely. Everyone who has driven it is very impressed, as wre the turbo boys at there dyno day when it made 322bhp and 307lb/ft or something like it.

The flexibility is amazing, occasionally I wonder why it's chugging around town- the answer is I've dropped below 1000rpm in 3rd or 4th......... conversely you can be a gear higher on track and ride the torque without having to change gear all the time.

I don't know where you're located but I'll be at Silverstone on Sunday if you want a chat or pm me and I'll give you my mobile number.

It's not cheap, but [:D]

unit 11 in warrington are very good, their engine builder is ex tech 9. They rebuilt my 993 RS engine and did an excellent job and stand by their engines.
Worth the journey as they are also cost effective. I still have my old pistons and barrels which are within tolerance but I put new ones in as it is a pure track day car if you are interested.
