Greetings ladies and gents
Just to let you know how a few small leaves/related rubbish caused so much heartache not to mention the cost and inconvenience.
The battery compartment on my 924S has a small drain on the bottom fitted with a rubber flap.
When I purchsed my car I was unaware that this had got blocked.
Consequently water was collecting and over time started to cause rusting in the battery compartment floor
This caused slow water leakage inside the car which gradually corroded the ECU (computer) terminals as a result of which the car developed starting problems and kept blowing DME relays more frequently than would be expected.
Gradually I started noticing plant and fungal life forms on the passenger side floor carpet .
It was only when the rusty hole got bigger that the passenger carpet was completely seeped in water in the last few weeks.
A great pity as I paid a small fortune in July to get the ECU fixed and completely repaired. No one bothered to find out why the terminals had corroded, otherwise the leak could have been traced.
It is now Nov and so the ECU must have have been getting a soaking again since being repaired in July and its anyones guess if further corrosion has taken place.
I have now had everything welded properly but am not sure how to get rid of the unwelcome saprophytic (fungal) guests on the passenger carpet.
I believe Miltons solution is effective but will react with metal I am also reliably informed
Any ideas?
The moral of this story?
Go check your battery compartment drain before it is too late especially as it is autumn.
Best
