And so the end is near...

Unfortunately, the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP has decided that my employer constitutes an efficiency, and I am to be made redundant. Whilst I'm hopeful of finding alternative employment soon, it is going to require some belt tightening in the Ephraim household. And so, my all too brief foray into Porsche ownership must come to an end, in favour of not having a car at all. So... if anyone wants a mechanically sound but pretty leggy Celebration Edition, then there's now one available.

So very sorry to hear that mate hope your luck gets better real soon. I think in your situation you are doing the right thing though for what it is worth.

The side on shot..... has that door been blown in?
Have the sills been top coated yet?
I used to own on of these (F324 VWK)..... shame about those seats, that cloth is VERY hard to come by.....

Tough times. I'm sorry to hear it.

If it's any (slight) consolation I have just heard that I failed a job interview. At least it was quick (interview and feedback within 2 hours), but still not designed to make for happy bunnies.

All the best with finding a new job. And with selling your 944.

Don't follow you on the doors or sills, what do you mean by blown in and top coated? The sills have been repaired, undercoated and painted if that's what you mean. Not sure on the door tho.

And the seat fabric is like rocking horse poop. I've tried to find it to no avail. I had planned to change the seats once I had somewhere to store the studio ones, but obviously that'll not happen now. There is another chap I was talking to about a joint purchase, but his lead dried up, I think.

Your misfortune simply adds to mine... never been big on schadenfreude. Sorry to hear about your bad luck too.

Apologies. I'm not aiming to increase your woes.

It's the picture where the sill looks like it's in primer? Just a bit odd.

I thought the seat material was available from the German supplier, but I can't find the link...[&o]

I wish you the best of luck, things will get better, they always do. Same thing happened to me two years ago and i stood on stand-by for a year but now all is well, actually better than ever.I also faced the same decision regarding the car but in the end i opted to keep it and i'm glad i did.

the seat fabric MAY be available from Southbound trimmers

No. It was unobtainable, but I thought the mainland Europe supplier, I think Germany, were re-manufacturing it along with the Silver Rose fabric. I'm happy to be proved wrong, though. [:D]

The Studio fabric was only fitted to 30 UK cars, I think, hence being pretty rare.

I hate to say it pal but your ad pics are not very inspiring. Your sills are not the same paint colour as the rest of the car. Who did the repray? Was he blind?!

It's a difficult sellers market with the recession etc, you need to do everything you can to make your car stand out from the rest of the crud out there. I wish you luck pal.

Yeah, unfortunately when the sill repairs were carried out, the paint was unavailable. I've since been quoted about £100 to remedy it, but given that the car is being sold and I don't have £100 lying around, I'm trying to sell as is. I've tried to reflect the condition in the price, but perhaps I'm being overly hopeful with my asking price. (And given that I've had the square root of no interest in the car thus far, I'm guessing that perhaps that's the case).

I've tried Southbound, Sitzklinik in germany, and a number of UK auto-upholsterers for the fabric, with no luck. I have had contact from a couple of other celebration edition owners also looking for the fabric, so any assistance is gratefully received (even if I end up just pointing the new owner in the right direction).

Cheers.

Thanks Scotty - that's exactly what i meant.
Blown in meaning..... that door looks very much like its been painted along the edge (shut) that meets the B pillar (vunerable to damage as we all know) but not the whole door..... and the colour mismatch is very visible. Not to mention the sills.
Sorry don't mean to dishearten you - but its what other buyers will also see. If its not that bad in reality, maybe some other pics?
Anyway I can only wish you well with the sale, its very unfortunate times for many people, although as some others have mentioned I think you might be a little optimistic with that price .... I loved my 944 studio and was sorry to see her go.... and that was 12 years ago!
Good luck

Yup - not a sniff of interest, and with my insurance up for renewal at the end of the month I'd like to get shot of it sooner rather than later. So, onto fleabay it has gone. Hopefully there'll be more interest there.
