And so the hunt begins

Hello everyone. After taking deposit on my car this evening im on the hunt for a later tubby, being realistic I have 5k to spend, Im I asking too much ?

As long as you don't expect a perfect one, then no. I paid £3500 for mine knowing that it needed some work but was fundamentally a good car (not rusty, no major mechanical issues but did need new fuel pipes, tyres and a few other bits and pieces). It is definitely cheaper to buy a better car upfront but buying a cheaper one allows you to spread some of the outlay over time.

In a perfect world I would try to find one which had a massive file of receipts, a full service history, no rust, belts just done, new tyres and brakes and KWv3 suspension but I would expect to pay a good bit more than £5k for it (probably £7k+)

I think £5k is a good budget for a late turbo after all we are in a recession. It will just take a bit of time to find one.

I bought my 1990 944 t in good nick fsh and 115k for £5k (6k was asking price). I would add that I ahve now spent ££££ getting gaz golds, dual port wastegate, 55lb injectors, 3" exhaust, etc

Looking back I would just pay the extra and buy one with all the toys. After all it takes a strong person to resist the lures of more power/nbetter handling. I am weak and gave in after 1 month. :[:D]

Thanks for the comments guys, prefrably im after one with a good body as I dont really fancy doing paint or panels.
