Just thought i'd pass this on, as moderately interesting:

I recently bought a 997S cab from OPC Mid-sussex. A cpl of weeks later, i get an email from "porsche inside track" asking me about my buying experience etc. The same day i get an email from Mid-sussex asking if they could buy my car off me...[8|]. I replied in good humour that i had in fact only just bought the car from them, but they could certinaly buy it back for £10k more than i paid.

Then i get a call from the principal, apologising. But the point of the post is just to say that he was telling me how short of stock they were (hence the email). I have no idea if this is centre-specific.

I had to cancel a "winter check" on my car the other day and the person who phoned back to acknowledge the message was not from the service dept but a sales chap who asked, as my car is nearly a year old, would I like a Turbo S now! 10/10 for effort[:)]

Flyers asking you to contact the dealer to see whether you may be interested in selling your car due to their low stock is simply a marketing ploy. When you get there they will be more interested in seeing what they can sell you with yours suddenly becoming a low value trade in. I have experienced this several times.

Also I may have to sell my 05 arctic silver 997 C2 tip due to going into rental property for a short time and have recently contacted several OPC's asking if they would be interested in buying my car whilst stating that I am not looking for a replacement at this time. Not one has even give me the courtesy of a reply - low stocks eh!!!

Fair point. In the same vein, when you're after a specific car/model, the dealer will always tell you that there's hardly any about, they're in demand etc. when you come to p/x or sell, the dealer tells you that the mkts flooded with them and nobody wants em....

Guildford opc sent similar letter to me - out of interest I responded and what I thought was a 'relatively' ok buy in price was offered over the phone. Probably varies by dealer as the local opc to where I am now hasn't shown any interest...

Contrasts totally with my OPC who never phone and never email. Perhaps they sell enough cars...?
