The day dawned dry + bright... [8D][]
We got there in good time as we had stopped the night at a local B+B. Fresh + ready for the lappery to come...[][].
2 of us had ventured to North Wales, Myself + JP in his eye wateringly white 968CS.[8D][8D]. So after setting up in the small garage, sighting laps comenced...+ im glad i went on them.
Although ide "done" the GP track last year, this was the coastal circuit, with the fab "corkscrew" series of corners...A bit like the corkscrew at Laguna Seca. GREAT...
Anglesey, for those never having ventured , is a FAST track, [130mph on the back "straight" then HEAVY braking into THE slowest corner on the track],,with LOTS of technical [off camber],corners thrown in...[][][]
OH and it has some breathtaking views fromn the top of the circuit, especially when dry + clear...[8D][8D][8D][8D]
So some learing was the order of the morning.
Unfortunately around 11am,ish,,,a chap in a Robin Hood [caterfield] type car, decided to embed itself in the pit wall...NOT a pretty sight, it took around 1.5 hrs for his car + him, to be removed to the pits + hospital. Aparently he sustained a few broken ribs, among ather cuts + bruises. I hope he recovers ok.. Thats more than can be said for his car... VERY VERY bent...
Anyway, lappery comenced till lunch...
Then after talking a lot of the usual "rubbish" about set up etc etc , we got stuck in, in earnest,,,gradually building up speed + confidence..
We were finding that most if not all the people at this day were suffering from severe amounts of understeer, even with different tyres,,,, road , track day, slicks etc...Including having severe wear rates of our " precious" rubber". So when it clouded over + the temp dropped a touch in the afternoon, we were glad,of the shade, not that it was that hot...
As the confidence grew so did the "mistakes", and this culminated in one of THE fastest spins ive had so far,,, entering church corner, [just befor the back straight],you have to be comitted, its a slight lift ,poss dab on the brakes, turn in, in 4th gear then a steady radius under progressive throttle, all round with a late apex + even later exit..Just DONT brake mid corner....Its just that when you are following a m8 in a pristine white CS [closely],+ he brakes mid corner because his tyres had gone off, as he couldnt get the car turned in right, I HAD to brake to stop myself from running in the back of him, NOT, NOT a good idea, as all the weight transfered to the front tyres, making the back go VERY light...Resulting in a 80-90mph 360deg heart in the mouth spin...Thankfully the track is wide , with lots of run off, although i didnt need it, managing to stay on the black stuff...[][][][][][][][][]
After i had calmed down," lots of adrenaline was flowing at this point". We got back into our stride. + EVEN more spins ensued, , this time self induced trying to learn / master trail braking...[Not at the same corner i hasten to add].[]
There were the usual "mobile chicanes" that hadnt listened in the morning briefing. But most of them got "dispatched" [][] after not too long...
Anyway. I hope those that read this arnt now yawning...All in all it was GREAT day.
So whos up for the Donnington meet then on the 28th August....????
A little pic for your delectation....

If you don't end up on the grass then it's not a spin, just vigorous cornering []

A bit like the corkscrew at Laguna Seca.
.....when was this...Playstation, Xbox....[]
Rather unfortunate mid corner braking , missed the apex by miles - honest i was tring to steer into it but the car wanted to go straight on - then realised i was going to overshoot the exit by miles. Too much entrance speed!
Oh, and yet again Dave in all three mirrors []...but well recovered. My mistake this time......Bilstein vs Gaz hey Dave?
Nice to see me behind you for once in the photo - i think that was the time i was going so quickly i was about to lap you [].
Good day, slow start, but some good effort in the afternoon to make up with some VERY close 'chasing'.
Well, where are the dynamic duo off to next. Oulton, Saturday 25th to do.........drifting (as you may have gathered Dave needs to learn some car control [][][])
Re the photo - thought about stopping, getting my sandwiches and flask out, deckchair up and taking in the view.

ps photo is nice and big for those of you whom want it as your desktop background []
