Angry clutch

Damn... My wifes 1985 3.2 has only got a few weeks before it goes to the doctors for a load of work (inc the clutch), and suddenly the clutch has started playing up. It's fine for a while, then suddenly the pedal feels twice as heavy and sort of spongy - you can still change gear, but only if the pedal is forced right to the bottom. It's done this a couple of times, then after a while it's gone back to normal operation.

Has anyone else had this? Any experience would be most appreciated!

sounds more like the release arm or pedal/cable problem(assuming its a 915 box) rather than the actual clutch itself
 
I thought that at first, but it keeps coming and going and I lcan't see any fault with the pedal / cable mechanics..
