Am I right in thinking, looking at my reference books, that we have both the 25th anniversary of the 944 and the 20th anniversary of the turbo falling next year?

Which year was the 944s introduced?

I'm thinking of making 2007 the year of the 944, so any ideas for Club events would be very welcome!

Sort of.

The 944 was first launched in 1982 so yes it is 25 next year, but the Turbo was first introduced in 1985, so it was 20 last year.

Paul,
According to Peter Morgan you're correct about the Lux (first available in 1982), but Turbo in 1985, 944S in '86 and S2 in 1989.
So it might be just you and me at the party[:D][:D]

I thought the 944S was introduced in 1987 and was only available until 1988 ?

Was it near the end of 86 and therefore 87 model year? From memory, isn't it the case that cars made after September are classified as the following years model?

So, aside all the technicalities of the various subsequent flavours, we are agreed that th 944 is 25 years old next year and we should be doing something to mark its birthday?

Yes, time for a birthday party.

Some one has Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar to much time on their hands according to my boss who came over to see what I was laughing at during company time.....

Officially the 'S' was MY 87 and 88. Mine is an '88 purchased in the first week of Jan 1988, so you are correct MY is not from 1st Jan to 1st Jan.

In the cycle trade it is June to June

My car will be sweet 16 next Tuesday.[:)]

Read into that what you will.[8|]

Surely the anniversary should from when the model was avaialble to the public, i.e. the on sale date (in Germany as well I would say). Presumably the Club Archive will have this information?
