Anniversary

My old 996 C2 was like that. I don't think there was a period of more than 6 months (in 6 years of ownership) where everything worked in the way Porsche intended.

The Turbo seems more robust. Two things wrong in over 18 months, so far: a leaking rad and a detached rubber tube,

My first four months were emotional. I had a seized adjuster on the rear tracking, which scrubbed a tyre; rusted heat shields; broken oil pressure sender; poorly fitting driver's window (loads of wind noise); broken driver's door lock, which presented random central locking issues, including locking me out for a week and winding the drivers window up and down in the middle of the night; broken bonnet release lever; broken engine lid gas strut; broken air con, shorting passenger door courtesy light and I picked up two car-park dents and scratches. To be fair I failed to spot the rear wheel alignment/adjuster issue, heat shields and door window when I bought the car. It had brand new tyres (note to self to be suspicious of brand new tyres next time), which hid the tracking problem. But since I fixed the last issue in Jan last year (the door lock) it's been fine :)
