annoying body creeking

hi there folks,
i just hope someone out there has experienced the same creeking noise as ihave , because it is driving me mad. it appears to be coming from the windscreen area. i thought it was the drivers side door but no. i have driven along with the door slightly open thinking it was the door rattling. i have also pressed firmly on the front bumper to compress the suspension but still no joy. i get the impression it is creeking within the window frame . my car is a supersport coupe any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Used to get this a bit in a targa, but they are slightly less rigid. I do get it in my coupe turbo, but am thinking this is the seat. Also have heard that windscreens (loose rubbers) can often be the cause. Unfortunately these things are annoyingly difficult to trace. Maybe get a passenger to help you locate it when driving. (If it is the seat it will probably stop when passenger in it!)Good luck!

Phil,
I have exactly the same problem on my 86 coupe, I've been trying to find the source of the noise for about 2 years, admittedly not very hard!
Keep us all posted if you find out the source, you'll save me hours........[;)]

well folks , guess what i know what the problem was . no it wasn't the seat or the windscreen. it was in fact the front wing. as i have mentioned this creeking noise has slowly driven me mad but after i posted the e-mail in sheer desperation .i decided to give it one more go.& bingo after i had tightened all the bolts down the top of the wing as well as the boot lid no creek . it was definately the wing bolts.
i think it's worth checking these out especially if the front wing has been removed for a respray or whatever.

Another area to check if the bolts on the wings have not come loose. The height adjuster on the suspension sometimes creek. This needs greasing to stop it and it is not difficult to do.

I had a 3.2 coupe, and it had a very annoying wind noise problem from when i first got it. I took it to a local porshce specialist, who couldn't find the source. I then went to Lancaster OPC in Cambridge. They were very impressive, and solved it very quickly. I would recommend seeing you nearest OPC. rgds Nick B

Hi, I have just put my 3.2 '87, back on the road, prior to that it was creaking from the front end, I had replaced the old bushing with new poly bushes, and had forgotten to grease them, I undid them, greased them, and the noise stopped. If you have old bushes it could be they are stuck, they are a bit awkward to get off, applying a lot of heat, will get them loose though. If you fancy replacing them, greased poly bushes are great, and there is no noise. Scott.
