Annoying Comparisons to the equally annoying Z4

How is it that every time you see a Z4 going head to head with a boxster, its the 3.0L Z4 vs the 2.7 Box ?

As a case in point.... Both Fifth gear and Top Gear seem to use these cars for comparison all the time.

My brother has a 2.5 Z4 with lauch control and an SMG gearbox - and suffice to say its abolutely horrid... A nasty car with probably one of the worst gearboxes I've ever used... MY old 2.7 made mincemeat of it as a drivers car - leaving aside the performance.

Why dont they compare to the Boxster S ? Or is this just Clarkson spreading his grumbling playacting again ?

Thoughts ? Objections ? General Agreement ?

Not that it matters - i still loooove the sound of that flat 6 when you open it up [:D][:D][:D]

I've often thought the same and you may remember the Boxster S against the AMG Merc, again hardly comparible.

I seem to recall that they generally did it on purchase price so a 2.7 Box would be equivalent to a 3.0 Z4 (Maybe, I don't know the price of a Z4).

I agree that it's a bit of an c**p comparison but they all seem to do it.

It still beats it hands down!

Didn't our esteemed editor compare it against a 993 in the Post?

But the ultimate thing to bear in mind is it's only a BMW and not the ultimate roadster [:D]
