Annoying idle problem

I have an idle problem guys on my 2.7 89 lux, it used to idle a little rough from cold for about 30 seconds after start up, but its been fine for a while now, but over the last few days every now & then when warm the idle drops to around 400 - 500 rmp & sends a vibration through the car, blipping the throttle & allowing the engine to rest again sometimes makes it settle at the normal 900 rpm, other times it doesn't make a difference, if I leave it & do nothing the idle rises back up to 900 rpm on its own ?? !!, it drives fine with normal power, this idle problem is an intermittent thing as it doesn't do it all the time,. I hear a lot of talk about Idle control valves & being a novice on the 944 engine I have no idea where it is, can it be cleaned ?, do I need a new one ? are the same ICV's between the 2.5 & 2.7 ?, how big a job is it ? & does anyone have pics & a walk through on any processes involved in curing this problem ?.... or can anyone confirm that it is an ICV problem please, as always help would be appreciated, cheers, Jinxy
