Annoying lack of Teamwork!

Driving down to Bracknell from Huntingdon this morning and all was going swimmingly......
I flicked on the windscreen wipers, they wiped twice and then the drivers one stopped in the vertical position!

I stopped in a layby near St Albans (Thunking a kerb in the process[]) and had a look and couldn't see what was wrong in the dark

I drove the remaining 60 miles with an opaque triangle in my main line of vision (I was able to reach out of the window and manually wipe some of the windscreen, and found that spraying the washers helped a bit...)

When I got to the office I took another look and found that the actuation arm has fallen off the motor shaft, I have put it back on, but should something hold it on as it will just fall off within seconds of being used?

Not looking forward to the journey 'ome....

I can answer this for you as this was exactly what happened on my new 94 about 10 mins after I purchased it.
The ball joint that holds the wiper arm and linkage connector has worn. You will probably need to replace the linkage, arm or both eventually. But in the meantime, get some very strong rubberbands and connect the two for now. It should last a few weeks like that at least.
But for peace of mind, get it fixed in future.

Great idea, thanks!
I will take a look over the weekend, luckily I am on the train tomorrow but have to drive to Heathrow and then Southampton and back on Monday!

I found after several months ownership of my 2nd 944 that my drivers wiper was held to the linkage with a huge ball of rubber bands. []
It cost me all of £10 for a new link arm from Porsche!

Made it home!
held the rod on by hooking the band around it and then the alarm horn mounting, allowed myself 12 wipes on the way home....

Rationing your wipes is never good! Glad you make it home, forgot to mention in here my dilema a coouple of weeks ago when I snapped off my wiper stalk with my knee!!

Thanks to Alasdair for sending a new one out in record time as well

/hijack over lol [;)]

I was fine until Jct 22 of the M25 when it started raining and there was loads of spray, so I switched to my lights method:
The Red lights move closer together: Press Accelerator
The Red lights move apart: Press Brake
