An increasingly annoying rattle had become evident from the front of the car. As with all these things it was hard to pin down where it was emanating from but by holding on to the roof console above the mirror it stopped. And the car alarm went off randomly a couple of times last week.
So, booked into my OPC today I had a call to explain that, yes, the unit was misaligned and upon removal there were clips and damage to the unit, which had been glued back together[

This is where the cautionary bit comes in - after an enjoyable trip with friends in 2019, I had to have a new windscreen (along with 2 other cars on the same trip!). So, the well known national windscreen company, that is the default for most insurers had fitted the new one, which of course meant removing and replacing the module. Go figure.
Fortunately the sensor for the alarm which was faulty has meant that the whole unit can be replaced under warranty. I suspect if this had not been the case, a large bill would have landed here with no comeback on the windscreen company after 18months.
Moral of the story is to insist on a Porsche centre fitting the screen (or bringing in their choice of fitter)
