When I first started driving cars many a year ago I bought English, Ford Capri, Triumph Dolomite Sprint and Reliant Scimitar for example before I then bought a Volvo. I was amazed. Not only did it not squeak and make strange noises the sunroof didn't leak! Talk about a culture shock! Volvos followed, SAABs, BMW's, Mercs and then good ol Porsches.
Now, recently there was a squeak. Being quiet it was noticable and became annoying. I thought it was the leather seats, it was that sort of squeak. No, so kept listening and eventually worked out it was the under cover of the sunroof. Open it slightly and it stops. I eventually got it booked into main dealer and they did some car recall at the same time. As I drove to the garage I turned my music off and there it was, clear and obvious.
Car spent the morning in their workshop. When it came back I was told the engineer couldn't hear it !!! yet they lubricated it and it should be OK.
Before I had left their short road leading to their car park, there it was, squeak squeak!
Looking at forums it appears to be a common problem with no solution. I keep the cover open slightly which is OK but, annoying.
