Annoying steering wheel noise

Guys,
I have a 02 996 c2. Carbon steering wheel.

Moving lock to lock it has developed a noise that almost sounds like there is something lose in the rim of the wheel (in the carbon bits?). However maybe also sounds like a bearing etc in the inside.

Any suggestions before I take to Northway for a look?

try grabbing each of the front wheels at 3am and 9pm and giving them a good push and pull. See if there is any slack or clonking at that end. it could be a mid column U/J ? is the noise only heard/felt at full lock both directions ?or is it def inside the carbon sterring wheel ? if so it could simply be a loose bit of carbon chipped off somewhere
