Last year I took my car to the local Porsche Centre who whisked the car to their approved body shop for its annual bodywork check and then the Porsche Centre stamped the book. This year I have been advised to take it straight to the body shop where it will be stamped by the approved bodyshop, but presumably not with an official Porsche Centre stamp. Does anybody know whether the lack of the official Porsche stamp poses a problem?

When I recently took my 993 down to my local OPC for it's annual (9th) body inspection, I was told that they couldn't stamp the book because the car hadn't been serviced by them.
I was under the impression that yearly servicing and the body imspection were two totally independant things. I recenty had my 48k service done at a independent (Redline Racing in Stockton) but my local OPC (Newcastle) said the the independent should have stamped the book, as they had the opportunity to check the underside of the car when it was in for inspection.
They also stated that the the warrantly was null and void anyway because the car had been serviced at an independant and not an OPC.
I was thinking about calling Porsche UK to check out if my local OPC were telling porkies (excuse the pun) but it seem impossible to find out a telephone number for Porsche UK from the Porsche website.
Are my local OPC correct in what they're saying or should I challenge their claims and demand a proper inspection (and stamp)
Help and advice appreciated.

I would contact Porsche GB (sorry can't help with the number).
I also believe any official OPC has an obligation to inspect your car free of charge once a year to maintain the ten year corrosion warranty and the fact it has been maintained elsewhere is not a valid argument.
Ian.

My OPC did the check last year even though it had been serviced by an independent specialist. In fact they took it to their approved body shop and then stamped the book. This year they suggested I take it straight to their bodyshop which I have done. As I am following their advice I think the OPC would be hard pressed to make life difficult. I presume that with only one year left of the 10 year corrosion warranty, the benefit of the stamp is becoming marginal in any event .

Thanks for all your input on this subject. I spoke to a very helpful lady at Porsche GB on Monday who after a bit of chasing about did confirm that the annual anti-corrosion check has stuff all to do with annual mechanical servicing. Usually it's done at the same time as the annual service, if it's at an OPC but the fact that you've used an independent does not get away from the fact that an OPC is still obliged to carry out the anti-corrosion warranty.
They (Porsche GB) were even kind enough to call up my local OPC and put them right on the subject. So on 21st July I'll get my book stamped.
Thanks once again to you all.
