Another 944 Gathering ?

Suffolk944

Buoyed by the success of the very enjoyable (if slightly chilly !) gathering of us 944 enthusiast folk at Rutland Water in January, I am suggesting we look to repeat the feat once again. Like last time, the get together would be an informal event open to both Club members and non-members alike.

My current thought is to base it around a Goodwood Breakfast Club meet (Supercar Sunday on June 6th seems the best candidate). We have done something similar a few times before in a slightly less structured way and its been good fun. In those previous times we went to Goodwood and then followed it up with a drive down to Brighton for lunch and/or a beverage at the Marina followed by a further drive down to Beachy Head for some more refreshments, and I am thinking that something similar would be worth aiming for again. It would also be good if we could rendezvous somewhere before travelling on to Goodwood and hence arrive en masse.

Anyhow - what do folk think both of the idea in general and the venue and date more specifically ? If there is enough interest I am sure it will prove to be a very enjoyable day out. [:)]

My tuppence. I very much enjoyed the meet and am looking foreward to doing it again.
The last venue though not on my doorstep enabled a lot of folk (including me) to get there and helped the turnout. I'm not saying use the same venue but maybe same area ish ?
Goodwood is Chichester isnt it ? , the South coast turns it in to a very long journey for anyone North of me [;)]

Venue wise I guess its a matter of trying different areas as Rutland was a bit far north for many of the southern types and another Midlands location would again count them out, so in my head a "Southern-ish" location whether Goodwood or elsewhere would fit this time round (and yes a "Northern-ish" venue in the future. [;)] ) Have done the Goodwood thing three times from out on my East Anglian limb and its really not that far. Possibly any drive afterwards could be less towards the south coast ? Date wise yes there are alternative dates of course as well as different venues, just thought Goodwood was a bit more than just parking up in another car park somewhere.

Hi Jon,

6th June - Goodwood sounds good Lin & I are in 132miles each way, hope the weather will be kind.

What sort of time will we meet?

Hope you get enough interest, and next time we could go "oop north"

Trying avoid any dates that are too close to official PCGB events, an alternative Goodwood meet would be 27th June which is "Soft Top Sunday". How would that work with folk (date wise at least)?

I really enjoyed the last get together and I really like the sound of Super Car Sunday, but June 6th is our annual Regional Concours and since it's now my responsibility I will be with the other 500 Porsches at Harewood House.

I would also like to add the Goodwood is quite a trek for me being 265 miles each way.

Yes I think it will be difficult appeasing everyone but Supercar Sunday does seem to warrant the effort to travel somewhat more with the posibility of seeing some nice metal, not sure if you'll get the same with 'Soft Top Sunday'...

Hello Chaps

Just thought I'd pop in to say hello. Long time no see. I think my last meetup was Morgan at Malvern. Tried posting to Titanic and have given up trying to get it to work.

I've just reinsured the 944 for another year. Have been busy with other things so only did about 1000 miles in the last 2 years. But that is behind me now so I should be out and about a bit more. Goodwood in June could be good for me.

Haven't read the whole thread so if your now off to the Shetlands I'll be buggered.

Best wishes to all.

Hi Jon,

I am keen to catch up so thanks for facilitating. I have heard from a few people that some of the London based PCGB members meet at Fat Boys Diner which is off the A13 just out of London heading east. I will throw that in as an idea for a venue. Being based in London this obviously would suit me and maybe some others.
