Another Ebay bargain...? Or a money pit?!

Both probably...[:D]

I have spent more on my car in the last 3 years than I paid for it - but I still can't think of anything remotely affordable that would be better than the 944.

Depreciation on a good turbo is negligible now - just got my PCGB valuation through & it was over £2k more than I paid for the car. OK - the valuation may be a tad optimistic, but it's interesting nevertheless.

I reckon this car might be worth a punt. OK the Alcantara is not to my personal liking but the interior is nice - something i'd like to do with mine, the body should be good for another 20-odd years at least assuming the respray was a good one. The high milage is of a concern, but as long as it checks out against all the usual mechanical things you look out for with any car and given the history seems to indicate it has been regularly serviced and the timing belt has been replaced 2 yrs ago all seems OK on the face of it.

I'd personally want to have some contingency money set asside for mechanicals - probably needs a new/refurbished turbo if it is still the cars original and a cylinder head rebuild and maybe a gearbox rebuild. But the body work and interior look nice and it has a cup steering wheel which is a nice modern touch. Also with it being an early car there is a good chance it will have a gearbox with an LSD or oil cooler or both.

If all the electrics work, there are no funnies from the engine and the bodywork checks out as being sound it could be a nice little bargain (i'm an optimist!!).

From what you can see, it looks like a good one. Someone has clearly spent some money on the bodywork and interior (and I do like the dashboard), so it may have been loved.

Mechnicals are the question ... and the C/D status question.

PPI may answer a lot of questions.

Oli.
