Another load of hot air! Broken plastic heater clip-advice please

Apologies as I know the issue with the broken plastic clip on the heater mechanism which causes constant hot air has been done to death, but there are some useful pictures below and I need some clarification about how I join the parts together once I have a new plastic clip/bearing (part no: 944 572 314 00) & metal retainer (part no: 944 572 217 00). Bear with me!

I didn't even realise I had this problem, as on the rare occasions I've needed heat it's only been to de-mist the inside of the windscreen so I just turn on the volcano heat setting of the defrost button when needed and just drive about with the fan on zero at other times. However, on removing the glove box liner today to quieten the buzzing fan in my cabin temp sensor I was greeted with this classic 944 scene:

At first, I thought my plastic clip was OK but thanks to Paul McNulty's photo in his post in the Technical Articles section on this issue, it would appear that both sides of the top bit of my plastic clip are gone - see picture below (sorry for the poor quality!).
Is this correct that the top plastic bits are missing?

When I put the metal pin/lever in the slot in the plastic clip and then twist the temp knob so the mechanism moves, the pin/lever immediately pops out - as you would expect with the current state of the broken plastic clip.

Which part of the metal pin/lever should be gripped by the plastic clip? The screw thread area (as in the first picture below) or above the screw threads (as in the second picture below)?

Finally, the metal clip is missing entirely.
Where does the metal clip sit?
Does it clip directly over the plastic clip at the point where the plastic clip is gripping the metal lever pin?

Sorry if they're really obvious questions to some of you but it's difficult to find photos of what this join should look like once the plastic clip, metal clip and metal lever are all joined up correctly.

Once I've fixed mine I'll photograph the finished join and update this post.

Many thanks!

The plastic clip has two prongs that sit either side of the metal rod and they grip it on the threaded part exactly the same as in your first picture.

The metal clip then clips onto the prongs and sits over the top of the threaded rod preventing it from popping out.

Thanks for clearing that up David.

I ordered the parts from Nottingham OPC today - £1.20 in total!
