Another Mountain Biking post - sorry

For those of that feel the need to burn off some of that Xmas turkey we are organising an R10 mountain biking adventure to the wonderful Astonhill area near Wendover.

We are all meeting up around 11.00 am next Monday 27th December to ssip some sweet sherry before we spend a few hours round the x-country course with the odd bit of downhill thrown in for the more courageous.

Everyone is free to come along an join in - however some festive attire will be mandatory - even if it is only a bit of tinsel on your handlebars Steve.

For details of the venue see here - for more details of the ride mail me from the forum or post a question on this thread.

So far we have about ten intrepid bikers signed up between the ages of 22 and 62 but the more the merrier..

There will also be a small prize for the most spectacular fall of the day and the most bones broken (again)

...and arm slings [:)]
Precisely how many of us are currently signed up? Just so that I know how many appointments to make at A&E. [8|]

Graham, assume you Know that you're supposed to have a pass tp ride at Aston even for a day, sometimes there's a person checking sometimes not.
Will ride up from Berkhamsted to join in the carnage with you

Brian,

Looks like Steve, his nephew, Darren and Paul, Graham and Guy from Olney, my nephew if I can find him a bike whilst he is staying with us, Andy Laith, me and yourself. I make that 10 so far.

Andy Jones is washing his hair that day. Howzabout Jeff is he fit yet ?

PS As per Andy laith don't forget we need to buy a day ticket on the day ..

PPS Caught Steve out practising yesterday !!

All done and a good time was had by all.

Sorry that you couldn't come Andy (Laith & Jones) whilst the temperature was sub zero the laughs were a plenty - not sure whether it was the jokes or the blind fear as we descended some of the 'easier' trails.

A few stats from the day from my new GPS toy...

Total mileage - a weedy 10.8 miles of XC riding
My max speed - 29.9 mph
Total ascent 2069ft to a mx height of 913ft - alot of ups and downs !!

Thanks to all that came along - lets see some new faces next time...

Good day. Only regret was that the downhill "black run" looked a little white to me.

((Note to myself:- please bring serrated tyres for log cutting next time))

Thanks to Graham for organising, and lift. Darren, Paul and Brian for chats along the way. No thanks to pub who made me get home so late I was l8 for evening scoff with family (phew).

Graham, sorry couldn't make it,my constant coughing of the past week would only have distracted you.Hope to catch up with you on one of your rides around Woburn
