Another new 996 owner

Hi All,

Just wanted to post a greeting! I will be picking up my 996 next week (very excited, first Porsche). Can't believe how lucky I am. I've been saving/dreaming/working for it since a very young age so thought I'd stick up two fingers to the credit crunch and put my had in my pocket.

It's suprising just how good a condition the car is in for the age/mileage, and I don't want to make it deteriorate any faster than necessary. Was hoping to get some seat covers to avoid wearing the leather on the seats. Does anyone have a recommendation? There are lots of cheapies on ebay, but it seems a bit worrying to put a £7.50 cover on such a smart car! I also saw these:

which look quite neat, however, may just be pointless.

Any recommendations?

Welcome Richard! That's 3 newbies in one day! Let's have some details and pics of the new car whan you get it. Great choice, btw! [;)] [;)] Personally, I dislike seat covers. If you give the seats a good clean and treat them with a leather conditioner on a regular basis you will find that they keep their look and feel very well. I use Zaino products I get from the US, but most people here seem to recommend Gliptone. It seems a shame to cover up the leather, and to lose the benefits.

Hi and thanks for the welcome. I see your point with regards to the covers, but I was just looking for the simplest solution for day to day wear and tear avoidance. Obviously for 'showing' the car there would be no cover! Will post pics as soon as I get the car and the weather is half decent! It's a fantastic car, I fell in love with it before I knew what I was doing. It has a genuine gt2 body kit which makes it look very special!
