Another New Cayman S

Afternoon all

Thought I'd say 'hello' and share my joy at taking my first step into Porsche ownership. Recently managed to bag a OPC 2013 Cayman S that came up at a good price, with all the options I wanted, plus a few more.

19,000 miles
Had a pretty packed spec list; including:
Agate Grey with Pebble Grey two-tone leather package
20 inch Carrera Classic wheels (in platinum)
Manual
BOSE
PDLS
Folding mirrors
PASM
PSE
PTV (pretty rare I hear!)

It's been a cracking couple of months with the car, and really enjoy how it drives. Had a few issues with the OPC, as the wheel alignment was well off (sorted at a separate OPC at no cost), an indicator stalk not working (high beam wouldn't stay on!) and a rear tail light holding too much condensation, which many of you will know is very hard to get sorted under warranty, but I managed that. I also felt that all four tyres were past their best (P Zeros were cracking and all original 2013 tyres!) and managed to negotiate two new rears when i want them changed! So I've done well!

Only grumble I have is the cabin is quite loud (can't complain given it is a sports car) and the BOSE is rubbish!! Probably mutually inclusive there!

Looking to get the car fully corrected and coated in the latest ceramic coating (SiRamik) by a locally accredited detailer in the next month or so, so will post up further pics once completed!

Looking forward to (trying!) to contribute to the Forum!
Cheers

Oh that is lovely! I have to agree with Bose its average at best and how loud the car is. Do you have the sports exhaust? there is almost too much engine noise with that on

Such a nice spec, you must be chuffed

Nice looking car, like the wheel combination and great spec. Had my 2014 Cayman S 2 weeks best car i have ever had!

Thanks guys - appreciate your kind comments.

It'S a great spec and really happy with it.

Chris - in answer to your question (and pm) it's a manual and, yes it does have the sports exhaust (PSE).

Also has sports chrono, which seems odd given it's a manual!? Nice blips on down shift mind in sports plus mode.

You get dynamic engine/gearbox mounts with Sports Chrono, along with the central clock on the dash and Sports Plus mode. PDK gets extra tweaks to the shifting as well.

So there are benefits to it in a manual!

When you do change the tyres, I'd recommend Goodyear Eagle F1s (available in 20" 'N' spec).

They are notably quieter than most other brands, and should reduce cabin noise by a few dB.

Thanks Oliver - it is one I've been watching

I've actually emailed Michelin and the new PS4s are due to be released in N rating in September, which is when I'll be looking to change. Currently no Michelin tyres are N rated.

I'm also waiting for the 20" Michelin N rated PS4S due in September. My P-Zeros are down to a tad below 4mm on the rears already after only 3 track days and 6700 miles.

Be glad to get the Michelins on. Tread wear pattern front and rear on the P-Zeros nice and even. Thanks to the geo settings.

Brian

In the 981 the sports chrono plus only uses dynamic gearbox mounts, not engine mounts as in 911s.

This is due to the fact that it's the gearbox and not the engine hanging over the back of the car.

True, the 718 on the other hand has full engine dynamic mounts on Sport Chrono as I can attest from my three track days. Evolution always bring improvements. Cylinder count notwithstanding. Engine performance A+

Thanks guys! It's the best car I've owned truth be told. Old car was an BMW V10 M6.

Not as refined, but ruddy beautifully balanced!
